What Does Prehistoric Art Tell Us About Human Nature?

Before the formation of permanent settlements and the invention of writing, early humans did not leave much behind. We can only try to guess how they lived their lives based on the few objects which have been found, such as tools and works of art.

While tools can only help us understand some of the practical aspects of the hunter-gatherer lifestyle, looking at prehistoric art opens up some doors to the fascinating world of the human psyche.

In this video essay, I’ll show you some extraordinary pieces of art and some possible interpretations, which can give us an insight into the minds of our distant ancestors.
